U.S. unemployment claims rise higher than expected

NEW YORK (Forex News Now) – US unemployment claims rose more thanexpected in the Nov. 27 Thanksgiving holiday week, data released on Thursday showed in one of the day’s major realtime forex news events.

The weekly report released by the Department of Labor showed that the number of people who filed for unemployment insurance for the first time rose to 436,000, up from the revised figure of 410,000 from the previous week.

Analysts had forecast a reading of 425,000, according to at least two major online FX trading sites.

Despite last week’s increase, the seasonally-adjusted 4-week moving average dropped to 431,000, the lowest mark since August 2008.
