New U.S. jobless claims drop faster than forecast
NEW YORK (Forex News Now) – The number of U.S. workers filing new claims for unemployment benefits dropped faster than forecast last week, official data showed on Thursday, in one of the day’s spotlight FX news events.
According to the Labor Department, the number of initial unemployment claims fell to 454,000 in the week ending July 5, from an upwardly revised 475,000.
Global forex analysts had expected claims to drop to 460,000, two major financial news outlets reported.
